CARPET CLEANING FAQS

>

Other Liverpool carpet and furniture cleaners are cheaper why is that?

We have built our business on our quality work. We do not use "bait and switch" as part of our sales strategy, unfortunately in the industry some operators do. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Our price is reflective of the top quality work, equipment and materials used when we clean. Quality carpet cleaning and care extends the life of your carpets and furniture, while poor quality cleaning can leave a soapy residue behind. residues and actually harm your investment!

Is there anything I should do to prepare for your arrival?

It's a good idea to make sure that toys are picked up from the floor. We carefully move all reasonable furniture and put it back in place. However, we do ask that you remove all breakables such as lamps, knick-knacks, and photo frames that may be an obstacle for us.

How often should my carpet be cleaned?

Doctors recommend that people with allergies and Asthma wash their carpeting, drapes and upholstered furniture every 3 to 6 months. Vacuuming alone will not do the trick. Professional cleaning is the key to killing dust mites which is the number one cause of allergens in the indoor environment. We recommend cleaning residential carpet with medium traffic area at least once a year.

Note: Carpet protector is strongly recommended as it can prevent many permanent stains, assist in resisting traffic area damage and make future cleaning more effective. Regular foot traffic removes much of the factory protection from your carpet, leaving your carpet unprotected could allow permanent stains, premature wear and cause a lower appearance level. Ask your technician about protector.

How long will my carpet take to dry?

Drying time depends on some variables such as the thickness of pile and fibres, the weather conditions and the air circulation in your home. The normal drying time is from 4 to 6 hours. With our "Quick Dry" process drying times can be reduced by as much as 50% of normal.

I have allergies and am worried if the chemical that you use will bother me ?

The carpet cleaning solutions that we use are environmentally safe and completely non toxic and are safe for people with allergies, children and pets. Rugs and furniture can harbour soil and other contaminates. Properly cleaning your carpet and furniture will remove the built up soil and contaminates to improve indoor air quality and reduce allergens.

How do I treat spills and stains?

First scoop up any solids that have been spilled. (Loose potting soil, any solids that can be lifted). Then blot the area with white towelling. Be careful not to smudge the spot. Try our professional stain spotter and remove the stain following the directions on the bottle. If you cannot remove the stain , call us on 0800 068 1251 or 0151 427 1721.

What are those funny things (blocks or tabs) that you put under my furniture ?

They are protective coasters and are there to protect your carpet from rust or furniture stains. You should wait until your carpet is completely dry before removing them.

When I have my upholstery cleaned, how long do I have to leave my cushions propped?

Your cushions will be propped for better drying, and paper will be placed between contacting surfaces to prevent colour transfer. You should leave everything in place until upholstery is completely dry.

What do I do after my carpeting has been cleaned?

Immediately after cleaning: Floors can be slippery after cleaning. Be careful when walking from the carpet to a hard surface until the carpeting is thoroughly dry. Remove any blocks or tabs after 24 hours. Vacuum carpet anytime after a 24-hour period.

Will my carpets get dirty quicker after I have had them cleaned?

That depends on how your carpets are cleaned. Have you ever tried to remove a stain on your carpet yourself using a product bought from a supermarket only to find it reappear after a few days or weeks?

What is happening here is that you have removed the stain but now because of how some products work you may have contaminated the area with it and this area is now acting as a magnet to any dirt passing over it.

Why do stains keep coming backafter I've had my carpet cleaned?

Like all things you get what you pay for and some cleaners will use cheap detergent or methods that will cause resoiling. Its detergents that are the problem.

So how do you avoid picking a carpet cleaner that uses cheap detergents?

You use one that uses a product that is safe and approved. Dirtbusters use a range of detergents, depending on the nature of the job, including chemical free and non toxic products. So without getting too technical on you we will not leave any residue behind so resoiling is never a problem.

I have heard that carpets are unhealthy and wooden floors are healthier?

Pollutants in the air filter through your carpet. The carpet traps them so you don‘t breathe them in over and over again. But what happens when that trap gets full? Your family starts breathing dust mite debris, pollens, pollutants, fungus spores, bacteria and a long list of other nasty stuff. Once your carpets natural filtering ability gets full it is time for a thorough clean. Clean every six months and you will breathe easier. Carpets act as a filter acting as the lungs of your home. When you have hard floors the dust that carries all the nastiness will blow around. Children are at most risk as they are shorter than us and at a level that will cause them to breathe this dust into their lungs.

Which carpet cleaning method is best?

There are so many carpet cleaning methods now that you will not have to worry about this so much. One very important thing that many people look out for these days is whether their carpet cleaning service eco friendly or not.

Many carpet cleaners use big fuel drinking truck mounted machines. But now there is a new type of machine that reduces the amount of energy it uses and fits between the popular portable machine and the van mounted fuel drinkers.

Its a semi-portable machine that is basically the largest that a portable machine can be, giving the best performance, but can be mounted on a van or used as a portable. These run on petrol and use much less energy than the van mounted fuel drinkers.

These big van mounted machines use large amounts of fuel to heat the water and run the machine. They are over engineered for the purpose of cleaning carpets in a home and the only benefit that the user gets is quicker set up times. They don't add any benefits to the service provided.

The cleaners that use van mounted machines will tell you that your carpet will dry quicker but this is not true, using the correct product and technique, your carpet should take no more than 6 hours to dry.

Is cheap carpet cleaning worth the risk?

Like any industry carpet cleaning has its cowboys and scam merchants and you will almost certainly know of someone who has been a victim of them maybe without even realising it at first.

The result is that they will never trust another carpet cleaner and will say to anyone contemplating getting carpets cleaned. “All those carpet cleaners are the same, they rip you off”. Well I can tell you they are not. If you choose your carpet cleaner on price alone and go for the lowest, you will receive the lowest service. There is a world of difference between good and bad carpet cleaners!
